The Grove U9
With the football season well underway the U9’s faced Quinton House on the quicker, harder astroturf surface.
The game ebbed and flowed with both teams trying to attack quickly but it was our opponents who took the lead early on. Unfortunately we never quite played the right pass or got good enough shots off to get back into the game, with Quinton House being far more clinical in front of goal. We did manage to score through Kanye Nwuga but it wasn’t enough as we conceded far too many at the other end.

The boys were in high spirits before the match working well to warm up through the drills. The match started well with Oliver Whittam, Toby coles, Kyle Dissanayake and Muku Malanda working well to push the line up, pushing Quinton back. This led to an early goal by Oliver making the score 1-0 to The Grove. The boys continued to work well with Gabriel Alvarez-Custodio, Barnaby Davison, Patrick Kingsman and Daniel Nunez Montanola mounting a great defense. Seth Okesola did a superb job keeping out any balls that came his way in goal in the first half.
We went into the second half hoping for another goal and unfortunately two goals made it past the team with Quinton putting in a great performance. With the bit between his teeth Oliver was not going to lose the fixture and put in a superb effort to score in the last three minutes. The overall score was 2-2 and the boys should be proud of the effort they put in to achieve this result and are thirsty for more success next week.
